I was at Banquet yesterday when my friend nudged me and said, " Turn to your 7 o'clock. " So I did and I asked, "What?" Coz all I saw was a man with his family having their meal. My friend said, " Look carefully again." And after a while, I saw that the man didnt have any fingers. His arm stopped at the wrist so the whole palm area was missing. He was eating laksa.. and you can only imagine how he fed himself using the utensils just like you and me. We noticed that only 2 out of every 5 times, would he get the food into his mouth. But he didnt give up, neither did he get any help from his wife or son. He looked happy that you'd find it hard to even notice he is physically challenged in a way.
Ironic, coz there I was sitting down, lamenting on my situation, feeling all terrible and stressed up. Im sorry, what problem do you have again, Su??
This morning, I was watching The Ellen Show. I cried. They featured a 6 yr-old, Cody McCasland ( pic on right ), whose legs were amputated and now running marathons! Do click on tis site http://ellen.warnerbros.com/2008/01/cody_mccasland_courageous_kid.php and you'll be able to see the clip, if you havent. Its amazing how a 6 yr-old can give us such strength and shame us for thinking that its the end of the world when we are going through a rough patch. Life goes on... And you very well pick yourself up coz the world's not gonna wait around for you.
I've learnt alot over the past few days. Thanks to the ordinary people with extra - ordinary spirits. And I hope that you'll be enlightened just as I am. :)
